Making soap is a fulfilling and empowering skill to have. I have been making soap for more than 10 years and I haven’t looked back since the first soft, gooey bar.
Imagine the feeling of empowerment that you will have knowing exactly what is in one, if not the most used product on the largest organ. Knowing that if an ingredient used in a bar of soap you made doesn’t agree with you or a family member you can eliminate it from the soap and add something else. This step would be virtually impossible as most commercial soaps are loaded with byproducts and chemicals which leave most people bouncing from one bar of soap to the next.
So what is so fulfilling about making your own soap. The fact that you create something useful and beautiful for you, your family and any you choose to share it with. This is something that can be made with 3 ingredients, water, a fat vegetable or animal and sodium hydroxide (lye). Simple, I know right. With these 3 simple ingredients you can cleanse your body and clean your home. What could be more fulfilling and empowering than that. Even more empowering is you know exactly what is in it.
Making your own soap isn’t just fulfilling and empowering it is down right fun to do. Although, you may look like a mad scientist stirring, add and mixing what will ultimately be your step into the realm of soap making. Join me on my journey while I share my knowledge of soap making with you through this blog. I am by know means an expert but I know a bit about soap making and I would love to share it with you.
